Liverpool John Lennon Airport is one of the United Kingdom’s longest established operational airports, having been officially opened in 1933. It is an international airport serving the city of Liverpool and North West England. The airport is named after assassinated musician and peace activist John Lennon and is situated 11 kilometers southeast of Liverpool City Centre, adjacent to the River Mersey.
